The Maui Farm Programs

Family Strengthening Program (FSP)

The Family Strengthening Program is an innovative farm-based residential program serving families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness due to domestic violence and economic issues. With a focus on the whole family, the program provides opportunity for daily learning and application of healthy life skills and effective parenting strategies. The Maui Farm campus provides a safe environment for the family to rebuild, and to strengthen their lives.

Working in collaboration with our partners, Women Helping Women and Family Life Center, the services offered together create a circle of support that nurtures and guides struggling families through their process of healing, strengthening, and transition to community-based housing and self-sufficiency. Experiential Activities Program

The Experiential Activities program provides values training and hands-on activities in sustainable agriculture, horticulture, and animal husbandry on the therapeutic farm.  The Maui Farm’s experiential activities program implements methods and strategies that are integral to the theory and practices of Horticultural Therapy (HT).  HT uses the cultivation of plants and gardening activities to improve the mental, emotional and physical health of its participants.  HT helps people rediscover their connection to nature in positive ways that facilitates their personal growth and development.  HT is culturally relevant and benefits the individual as well as the natural environment and all who are exposed to that environment. The Maui Farm's Experiential Activities Program has proven to be a promising best practice model for both prevention and intervention programs. (read more)
